Still Fate, Still Us

Still Fate, Still Us
A true story of love, life, and the moments that shape us

I was eleven when I met my dad for the first time.
He was driving a bus.

A few years later, I met Karen.
She was fourteen. I was fifteen.

I bought her a £5 gold ring.
We’ve now been together for over 45 years.

This is the story of everything that came after.

About Blake Sanderson

A Life Lived, A Story Told

My story doesn’t begin with success, business, or career milestones.
It begins on a bus in Brighton.

I was eleven years old when my mum pointed to the driver and said,
“See the driver… that’s your dad.”
That moment stayed with me — not because of what was said, but because of what it meant. From that day on, I understood something quietly but clearly: presence matters.

A few years later, I met Karen. She was fourteen. I was fifteen.
We didn’t know it then, but that moment would shape the rest of our lives.

Not long after, I bought her a small gold ring for £5. It wasn’t expensive or grand, but it meant something — a simple promise that has now lasted over 45 years.

Together, we built a life. Not a perfect one, but a real one. Through the ups, the challenges, and everything in between, we stayed.

We raised three children and now have grandchildren who remind us what it’s all really about.

Along the way, I built a career and experienced more than I ever imagined. But when I look back, those things aren’t the story.

The story is this:
Where you start doesn’t define where you end up. What matters is what you choose to build… and who you choose to build it with.

This book is about that journey.

About the Book

A Story That Doesn’t Follow a Plan

It began with two teenagers — and a moment that didn’t seem important at the time.

What followed was a life shaped by choices, challenges, and everything in between.

This is not a story of perfection.
It’s a story of staying.

At the centre of it all is one constant.

Some Stories Stay With You

Not every story needs to be dramatic to be meaningful.

Sometimes, it’s the quiet moments — the ones that don’t seem important at the time — that end up shaping everything.

Life doesn’t follow a straight path.
It moves through choices, challenges, and the people who stay along the way.

This is a reflection of that kind of journey.
